Riverside High School Summer “Credit Recovery” Academy

Summer School

The Credit Recovery Program is designed to allow students to earn credits they
have failed. Students may only take Credit Recovery courses for classes they
have previously failed.

Meals

  • Breakfast and Lunch will be provided.
    Bus Information
  • KCS Buses will begin picking up RHS students between 7 am-7:45 am.
  • The bus garage can give specific times for stops: 304-949-4714
  • Fayette County Buses will NOT run. We are working on a KCS bus to pick
    up our students who live in Fayette County.
  • Students will board buses at approximately 1:45 for the return home.

Registration for Option 1 (In-Person Summer School) will be held on June 3rd.
Registration for Option 2 (Blended Credit Recovery: Online with Support) will
be held on June 6th.

Option 1: “Traditional” In-Person Summer School
The following courses are available for in-person instruction provided by RHS
teachers.

  • English 9: Semesters 1 & 2
  • Algebra I: Semesters 1 & 2
  • Geometry: Semester 1 & 2
  • Earth Science: Semesters 1 & 2
  • Biology: Semesters 1 & 2

Dates for In-Person Credit Recovery: Monday through Thursday
Attendance is mandatory and only two absences permitted during the four-week
summer school schedule.

  • Week 1: June 6, 7, 8, 9
  • Week 2: June 13, 14, 15,16
  • Week 3: June 21, 22, 23,
  • Week 4: June 27, 28, 29

Option 2: PEAK On-Line with In-Person Support
Online credit recovery courses are designed especially for high school students
who did not pass a course initially but for whom a full repetition of the course may
not be necessary.

In-Person Support, every Tuesday & Wednesday

  • June 7, 8, 14, 15, 21, 22, 28, 29
  • July 5, 6, 12, 13, 19, 20, 26, 27

In-Person Support Schedule

WV Learns Summer Virtual

  • Students must discuss summer virtual course requests with their
    counselors and have the course recorded on their Personalized Education
    Plan prior to registration.
  • Each 1⁄2 credit costs $100.00 ($250.00 for AP courses).
  • Registration requests will only be submitted after payment has been
    received. The last day to register is June 3rd.
  • Payments accepted: cash or money orders to Kanawha County Schools.
